Robin Laffier
Artist Statement - Currently I am enamored by ships and marine themes, as well as urban structures, especially those of my hometown, Hamilton. I like to create realistic impressions of my subjects while possessing them with a moodiness and atmosphere through the use of color, imagination, and artistic vision. However, as I get deeper into the art scene, I feel the challenge to explore all subject matter and all mediums.
Robin grew up in a home where both parents dabbled in the arts (oils, watercolors, inks and sculpture). He watched, practiced and assimilated their passion. Thinking his art might not financially sustain him, Rob followed his parents advice and got training and a career in another field. However, he spent every spare moment and holiday sketching the world around him and committing those sketches to finished paintings. Rob has studied the works of Lawren Harris, Kenneth Shoesmith, and Ken Marschall, in depth. Joining of Hamilton's Tiger Group has fanned the flames of his creative passion. He dreams of the day he can follow his art career 24/7.
